Specific or combined pain management therapies can significantly reduce, arrest and prevent pain, stiffness and limited mobility, and assist in healing.
The rotator cuff is a group of four tendons connecting the bone of the upper arm with the shoulder blade. Its function is to raise, lower and rotate the arm, and it is commonly implicated in overuse injuries due to repeated lifting, lifting too heavy a weight, or direct impact to the area through an accident or sport. Oftentimes age and plain old wear and tear can lead to weakness and impingement of the rotator cuff tendons, and can result in shoulder pain and weakness, even an inability to lift one's arm. Relief from rotator cuff tendonitis includes appropriate adjustment of the upper vertebrae to release impinged nerves, physical therapy including ultrasound and ice, stretching and mobility exercises, and proper rest, along with new ergonomic practices to help prevent its recurrence.
